Celebrating 125 years!
St. John Ambulance is an international
not for profit organization whose mission
is to improve the health, safety, and quality
of life to the communities they serve.
The organization has been serving
Canada for more than 125 years and has
been in the Durham Region for 50.
The organization started in Ontario in
the spring of 1884, after offering the first
course in first aid to a group of military
cadets at the Royal Military College in
Kingston.
They strive to provide first aid, CPR,
healthcare courses to the community and
of course, their uniformed volunteers work
hard to provide first aid coverage at a
number of community events.
These volunteers provide more than
15,000 hours to communities across the
region.
St. John Ambulance offers a number of
training related courses ranging from First
Aid, CPR, External Defibrillation and
WHMIS training courses, most of which
they offer on a weekly basis.
The organization also has a variety of
first aid kits and supplies available to buy.
They also run a Therapy Dog program,
which offers companionship visitations,
car seat technicians and a youth program.
