Bright colours, loud music and cultural movements.
Under the blazing June sun residents gathered on Sunday to catch a glimpse of various cultures
from around the world during the Fiesta Week kickoff parade.
The annual Father’s Day parade kicked off the 37th year of Fiesta in Oshawa and featured
spectacular floats and colourful representations from each of the 14 pavilions involved in the
fun-filled week.
Hundreds gathered and cheered as floats paraded by while cultural music blared and
the dancers filled the streets.
After the parade, a concert was held at Memorial Park where residents could get a
small preview of what Fiesta Week is all about- the food of course!
The weeklong celebration of multiculturalism features a sample of what different
cultures have to offer and allows people to try new things without ever having to step
foot on a plane.
The week includes Greek, Hungarian, Ukrainian, German, Polish, Italian,
Portuguese, Serbian, Caribbean and French-Canadian cuisine and the many shows
which are sure to entertain all.
A Fiesta passport is required to enter a pavilion. Passports are available at all
pavilions during Fiesta Week. Adults are $8, seniors: are $4 and children 14 and
under are free when accompanied by an adult.
