Addition to aid missing person searches
April 7, 2010

The money was taken from the hands of wrongdoers.
The vehicle purchased will improve searches for evidence at crime scenes and more effectively assist in the search for a missing person.
Durham Regional Police’s Public Order Unit has a new truck on the road, thanks to funding from the Attorney General’s Civil Remedies for Illicit Activities program.
The program allows money taken from crime groups to be used to support crime prevention and victim assistance programs.
Ontario Attorney General Chris Bentley issued the grant of $175,000 last July. The money was tendered out in August 2009, police say.
The mobile command vehicle will allow the Public Order Vehicle to respond faster to emergencies as well as aid police at crime scenes and in missing person searches.
“This vehicle will allow police to keep the families and communities of Durham Region safe,” said Attorney General Bentley.
