The Durham Children’s Aid Society is seeking an educational consultant to assist in obtaining appropriate school placements and support for the challenged children in the care of the society.
I support the society’s efforts and the need for this position. The CAS is doing this despite having a deficit and laying off staff earlier in the year.
The appalling thing is that the Durham District School Board (and other boards) has a budget of hundreds of millions of dollars and a staff of more than 7,000.
The monopolistic board, with its rules, regulations and whatever, somehow can’t find the staff to help these challenged children. So the CAS has to hire a teacher to access a public system.
Shame on the board.
Even more shame on the trustees who are supposed to be the liaison between the community and the bureaucrats at the board.
Oh, by the way, you the taxpayer are paying for both this new position and the bloated bureaucracy at the board that can’t seem to admit a few hundred children. Pathetic.
