Struck cyclist dies
August 18, 2010

A 57-year-old Oshawa man struck while riding his bicycle in the city has died of his injuries.
He was struck at the intersection of John Street West and Park Road North last Thursday around 10 a.m.
The man was riding his bike north on Park Road North when he entered the intersection at John Street on a red light. The cyclist passed a stationary vehicle waiting to turn south onto Park Road, from John Street and was struck by a SUV heading west, which was being driven by a 66-year-old Oshawa resident, police say.
Originally police thought the victims injuries were non-life-threatening when he was transported to Lakeridge Health Oshawa.
The following day, Lakeridge Health staff notified police that the 57-year-old cyclist had died from his injuries.
His name is not being released at the request of the next of kin.
No charges have been laid but because of the death, police are still investigating, they say.
