An Oshawa woman got more than she bargained for after buying a half-dozen banana muffins at a local grocery store.
The woman bit into the muffin on August 14, the day after buying them from the No Frills store at 1050 Simcoe Street North and found a pill inside.
After doing so, she called police, who determined none of the other muffins purchased had pills inside. The muffins were all packaged in a sealed plastic container.
The 40-year-old woman did not ingest the pill or become ill, police say.
Durham cops are now working with the local store to determine how the pill may have found its way into the muffin. They’ve also sent the pill off to forensics where it will be determined what kind of pill it is.
Anyone with information about the investigation can call police at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2764.
