The Oshawa Energy
Conservation Fair held at the
Legends Centre on Feb. 27 was
extremely successful. The very
large turnout for this event
proves that there is a definite
need for tangible solutions to
energy questions and concerns
and that the public is thirsty for
more knowledge.
Although all
the councillors were invited to
attend, only Mayor John Gray accepted.
Oshawa citizens realize we
must conserve our resources
and make better use of the technologies
that are available to
promote sustainability through
wise choices and positive
actions. The public wants a"user-friendly" forum to
explore new research and practical
solutions.
They realize
that by saving energy, they are
also saving the environment
and putting cash in their own
pockets.
We definitely need
more forums like this.
Many thanks to Glenn
McKnight of the Energy Conservation Society of
Ontario and Joan Kerr of the
Foundation for Building
Sustainable Communities for
organizing this engaging and
most informative day.
