More than 50 artists, musicians and gardeners are joining forces to raise funds for an Oshawa organization.

The 9th Annual Artist in the Garden event, which benefits Hearth Place Cancer Support Centre, will take place June 21, offering visitors a chance to tour eight gardens in Durham Region adorned with works of local artists and featuring performances by local musicians.

“The event is a great opportunity to check out Durham’s finest artists, musicians and gardens,” says Carole Keys, chair of the 2008 Artists in the Garden committee.

The event, which runs, rain or shine, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., includes gardens in Oshawa,
Whitby and Clarington with a feature garden on Anderson Street in Whitby where visitors can purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win a piece donated by the participating artists.

Tickets are $10 and available in Oshawa at the following locations: Hearth Place Cancer Support Centre, 86 Colborne St. W.; Classic Flowers, 74 Simcoe St. S.; L a s t i n g Expressions, 555 Rossland Rd. E.; and Rundle Garden Centre, 1015 King St. E.
