It was a very exciting and eventful eight days for the Oshawa Power as they continue to take the city of Oshawa and Durham Region by storm.
The Power was all over the GTA promoting the team and bringing awareness to the National Basketball League of Canada, reaching out to the community.
Power head coach Mark Strickland bounced around from radio station to television station spreading the energy of the new franchise to the masses.
The Power held an Oshawa Business Community meeting on Tuesday, September 13 where several local businesses were invited to connect with the team. On Thursday, September 15 the team held its first Basketball Clinic, at Glen St. Public School.
Later that evening Coach Strickland represented the team at the Oshawa Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Business Excellence Awards dinner, where Dan Carter won Business Person of the Year. The event was a great success as the Power were introduced to the more than 200 people in attendance.
Friday, September 16 was another clinic to attend, this time at Vincent Massey Public School. The Power then connected with the community at Oshawa Sports Day at the Civic Recreation Centre on Saturday, September 17. The good vibes continued on Sunday, September 18 and Monday, September 19 as the team visited the Durham YMCA and instructed local youth members, and then held another clinic, this time at Lakewoods Public School in Oshawa.
It was truly a week to remember for the team.
