DC women's basketball stays perfect

The Durham College women’s basketball team remained undefeated recently, bouncing the Georgian Grizzlies 72-63 and keeping their record without scars.

It wasn’t for a lack of trying on Georgian’s part though. The Grizzlies narrowed the lead to just two with 40 seconds remaining, but Durham managed to survive.

“We had a refuse-to-lose attitude,” says Durham Head Coach Tim Baulk.

Laura Pacevicius continued the strong start to her season, scoring a game-high 23 points and snagging 13 rebounds in the win. Pacevicius is the OCAA’s leading rebounder with 58.

Erin Emery drove hard to the basket all night for the Lords, including a buzzer-beating lay-up before the half. She was joined by Kelsey Hare, who added 20 points and nine rebounds.

The Lords’ win follows a 78-66 victory over the Centennial Colts, in which the team set the OCAA all-time record for three-pointers in a game with 17. Durham’s Janna Hagan also set an OCAA record by nailing 10 three-pointers.
