Oshawa area pilots vying for world record

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first woman to receive a pilot’s license, local pilots are hoping to break a world record of flying the most women – but it’s with a twist.

These are women who have never flown before.

Currently Oshawa sits in second place and is calling on women and girls to experience their first flight from Oshawa ’s airport on Saturday, December 18.

Member pilots of COPA 70, local pilot flyers, the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) and the RAA (Recreational Aircraft Association), will be taking any girl or woman who has not flown before for a free ‘fam’ flight or short sightseeing flight. Registration begins at 10 a.m. at the Oshawa Municipal Airport, which is located at 1200 Airport Boulevard, south of Taunton Road, between Thickson Road and Simcoe Street North.

Contact event organizer Private Pilot Leslie Page at 416-287-2975 or Oshawa City Councillor Bruce Wood 905-449-5237 or to pre-book your flight.
