| The sales of the Chevy Camaro have increased production at
the GM assembly plant. |
The Chevy Camaro, Equinox
and GMC Terrain are selling like
hot cakes, which is good news for
the struggling automaker and even
better news for Oshawa.
G M
Canada is
i n c r e a s i n g
production at
its assembly
plants, meaning
more
overtime for
the Oshawa
line until at
least the end
of October.
The plant
has already
been running
steady overtime
every Saturday since June to
keep up with demand of the backlog
of customer orders for the
Camaro.“The continued overtime at the
Camaro flex line is terrific news for
our employees, the CAW, dealers
and suppliers.
We are running our plants to
maintain maximum flexibility and
keep production tightly
a l i g n e d
with cust
o m e r
demand. T h e
uptick in
sales is an
encouraging
sign and
we are able
to ramp up
quickly to
meet cust
o m e r
n e e d s , ”
says Arturo
Elias, president
GM Canada.
According to
GM Canada, the
Equinox is doing well because of
its highway fuel economy for a
vehicle in its class, and the new
Camaro is also fuel efficient with a
unique design that is appealing to
customers all over North America.
“The continued
overtime at the
Camaro flex line
is terrific news for
our employees,
the CAW, dealers
and suppliers.”
