A new shiny blue van sits waiting for the
members of the Eastview Boys and Girls
Club in Oshawa.
And it’s all thanks to the community
members of Durham Region for their contributions
towards the poppy fund.
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 43
handed over the keys to the new van yesterday.“A common misconception is that people
think the legion is rich,” says Don
Legree, a legion member.“It’s not true We cannot touch that
money.”
For President David Harlow the experience
is rewarding.“All those people who gave their
loonies or toonies, this is the sort of thing
the money goes to,” he says adding the
club aids veterans too.
For the three young girls who were there,
the donation was a complete surprise.
And judging by the excitement on their
faces, it was a great one.
