Drunken man crashes pick-up into store window
February 17, 2010

The tire tracks are still visible in the grass where a drunk driver drove a pick-up truck into an Oshawa coffee shop Friday morning.
A Whitby man is facing a slew of impaired driving charges after crashing a pick-up truck, which he took without the owner’s consent, into the Coffee Time store on Park Road South.
The 21-year-old man allegedly was driving drunk with only a G1 licence, say police. His 28-year-old passenger was also arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, marijuana.
The driver is charged with impaired driving, possession of a controlled substance, exceeding .08, dangerous operation, taking a motor vehicle without consent, being a G1 licence holder with a blood alcohol content above zero and G1 licence holder unaccompanied by a qualified driver.
Police say there was only one employee working in the back of the store at the time and no injuries were reported because of the collision.
Structural experts were called in to determine the amount of damage caused. No estimate has been released yet.
