Although the blistering cold February air makes the warm sunshine of spring seem like it may never reappear, the folks at Parkwood Estate have hope it’s just around the corner.
The estate is offering a “garden style and design course,” on March 7. Learn how to create a beautiful garden and outdoor space using a wide array of materials.
Landscape architects David Billham and Scott Torrance will offer up an inspiring presentation on how to incorporate materials like wood, metal and stone in combination with flora, fauna and water to create elaborate residential and urban settings.
Billham and Torrance will use pictures of historical and modern gardens, including Parkwood’s heritage gardens, to inspire you to consider your outdoor space in completely new ways, says a release from Parkwood.
Billham has developed master plans for urban redevelopment areas as well as parks, marinas, resorts and theme parks in the United States, Thailand and the Netherlands. He received his Bachelor of Landscape Architect degree from the University of Toronto. He previously worked in New England before joining a local firm in Whitby in 1991.
Torrance received his Bachelor of Landscape Architect degree from the University of Toronto as well. He has been awarded a number of awards for his designs. This year’s Canada Blooms will include a feature garden, dubbed Yellow Beacon, which was designed and built by Torrance’s team of architects for the Canadian Cancer Society. Torrance owns his own company, which is based out of Toronto.
The event will run from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Registration is required and hopeful participants may do so by calling 905-433-4311.
The program cost is $10 per person.
