Dear Editor,
The 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games has certainly alleviated any possible seasonal affective disorder that usually accompanies February each calendar year- notwithstanding the horrific start to this quad-annual event with the death of the Georgian luger.
That country should be awarded a ‘posthumous’ gold medal for that athlete’s supreme sacrifice in the name of his sport.
At the time of this letter’s sending, Canada at least was positioned to possibly own the gold medal podium count.
Good for us, even if we didn’t win the overall medal count of these Games.
Norway, Germany and Russia should be applauded for their fine effort along with the U.S.A.
But Canada need not hang its head over our effort considering the many fourth and fifth place finishes achieved. I say good job for an effort well done Canada and may government funding be increased for our summer and winter athletes.
We have shown we own curling, speed skating and snowboard cross events, not to forget woman’s hockey.
Bravo in the name of our flag and country, with the wishes for even better results in the future.
