Dear Editor,
The prime minister has broken another promise by appointing his conservative buddies to the senate. We can all take comfort in our bed each and every night knowing these new crime-fighting senators in the red chamber will clean up the streets of Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and advance the conservative agenda.
Statistics prove crime is and has been on a downward trend for years. The prime minister is campaigning to his core constituents.
The closure of parliament cost taxpayers $ 130,407,733. One would expect government to be more responsible to the needs of the people in times of austerity. Politicians of all stripes should remember they work for the people. You're elected to uphold the constitutionality of our democratic institutions, imperfect as they may be.
Spouting national security as a vehicle to advance your right republican agenda is both disingenuous and fear mongering at best.
The amplificatory behavior of Justice Minister Rob Nicholson’s derogatory remarks and misleading statements in his press release and use of the Justice Deprtment’s website to advance the George Bush/conservative right wing fundamentalism is further evidence the conservative government is void of a moral compass.
Minister Nicholson’s remarks bring into question both the neutrality of his office and constitutionally his competence.
