The Oshawa Express
Give courage.
Give support.
Give happy thoughts.
Drawn with quirky illustrations to highlight the message, Dani Crosby says her art is meant to illustrate emotions that are normally intangible.
“It’s giving something tangible to represent something intangible,” she says.
“Sometimes you need visual things to remind people about what’s not visual.”
Her work was recently on display as part of the Broken Arts Fair, which showcased more than 25 different people and groups who were selling crafts, arts, literature, comics, baked goods and more.
The fair was held at the Robert McLaughlin Library and was put by Broken Arts, a collective of artists based out of Oshawa. It was meant to bring together various creative people, with the hope of uniting a community that encourages art, says group member Stefanie Walker.
“We put on all kinds of mixed media art shows,” she says as she sketches a person on her sketchpad.
“This is our first craft fair.”
Walker says the fair features a lot of abstract forms of art and is a great way to network.
“These kind of artists are very unconventional – underground per say.”
