It may seem like something out of
the most recent Fast and Furious film
but it has become reality in Durham
Region.
Durham police are attempting to
solve a crime spree, which involves the
theft of more than 50,000 litres of fuel.
Over a span of three-months, large
amounts of fuel have gone missing
from storage tanks at companies in the
north end of the region.
One of the incidents involved the
theft of more than 20,000 litres of fuel.
In two other separate incidents, 10,000
litres of gas were stolen from two different
sites.
Police believe that thieves, who are
outfitted with the necessary equipment
and tools to pull off the heists, are targeting
certain businesses.
Police are asking the general public
to report anything suspicious in or
around businesses in their area, which
maintain and store large amounts of
fuel, like construction companies.
